HIGH-LOW HYDRAULIC GEAR PUMPS

In this blog post, we will briefly talk about special high-low pumps that are widely used in hydraulic systems. As we know, hydraulic pumps are components that convert mechanical energy into hydraulic energy and provide flow to the system. Hydraulic pumps do not generate pressure; they function as the heart of the system and supply flow under pressure. In hydraulic systems, many applications require high speed at low pressure and high pressure at low speed. This type of operation can be seen, for example, in hydraulic presses and log splitting machines. In such applications, high-low tandem pumps are used. During the high speed mode, both pumps deliver oil to the system, and high pressure is not required at this stage. When high pressure is needed, the unloading valve is activated, allowing only the small displacement pump (No. 1) to supply oil to the system. This also enables lower power consumption. In this way, the system requirements can be met with a single tandem pump.

Examples of application include garbage trucks, log splitting machines, hydraulic presses, clamping systems, and metal processing machines.
